Flat-woven in the traditional of an antique Persian carpet, Sumak rugs such as this one have an antique look and feel resembling an old, worn rug that has softened and faded to perfection. Because Sumak rugs (also spelled Soumak) are hand-knotted on the back, they are extremely durable. The face of the rug has an 'embroidered' texture that shows off the intricacy of the workmanship put into the rug. Because Sumak's do not have a pile to them, they are completely reversible, providing a slightly different texture on each side. This added benefit will also allow you to enjoy your rug twice as long before having it professional hand-washed. A thick pad is ideal for flat-woven rugs, to add a bit more cushion and comfort. Colors include warm, earthy tones of brick reds, sage and olive greens, golds, and ivory tones.
