These type of rugs always shed a little, especially in the beginning, but they are extremely durable. The last one I had in my kitchen lasted 5 years with heavy use, and just recently showed signs of wear. I would much rather pay more for a good quality rug like this than buy a typical cheaper kitchen rug that is not as nice looking.
